Yes. I am familiar with the "direct democracy" system of Switzerland vs. the "representative democratic", dominant party option of the USA.

I do not like the presidential or the parliamentary system practiced in the USA or UK respectively.

I am not sure I agree with the mob rule point you make. And I do agree, as Ricky Gervais says so brilliantly in his comedy, "let's not do what the ordinary man thinks - do you know how stupid the ordinary man is, it's why we put warning signs on bleach" (paraphrased).

But I also think it is very easy to discard and discount the intelligence of people in order to safeguard power.

Somewhere between these is a balance. But while my idea has issues, in time it will become the most attractive (and used) form of government as people have access to more and more voting systems.

I see the future as fully democratic or totally autocratic, perhaps even dictatorial.

There is no other option.

The fragmentation of ideas will see to that. Neither a Republican nor a Democrat can be pigeonholed anymore.

What if you are liberal, but want tight fiscal policy, and are for corporate business and free trade. But you also want great worker rights.

Who do you vote for?

People vote based on issues. The Republicans will NOT get the female vote they enjoyed in the last election because Roe V Wade is going to come back and haunt them.

Issues.

I think it will all become issues-based. And one issue at a time as well. Which makes our current democratic ideology unfit for purpose.

I'll stop there before I create a whole new piece. lol
