This is not about being Handsome — it is about a lack of JUSTICE!
I read your version of the story. I am invested in this and wrote about it a few weeks ago :-
It is my most viewed article and through it, quite a few people joined Medium just to clap for it and follow me.
I followed up with a second and third piece “proud” –
and “forgiveness” …
I wrote to the Governor of the State too.
I just wanted to say that your headline is very unfair and misleading. This groundswell of support has nothing to do with his looks. There are thousands of stunning looking men and women in Prison.
This is about a system that punishes children (young adults) for making mistakes by giving them sentences longer than they’ve lived. It achieves nothing positive for anybody and prison is about REHABILITATION… please explain how this does any of that!
I can show hundreds of cases where killers are found guilty and serve far shorter sentences. This is about that. Not his looks. My original story highlights a real problem when a country has two sets of rules for its citizens. Was he wrong, reckless, stupid — yes — he was all of that and more. But he was not 24-years wrong, reckless or stupid. This is a travesty of justice.
I just wanted to add some balance to the incident. And to indicate that it is not about looks. It is totally about JUSTICE or in this case, the lack of it.
