The moment you start trying to explain emotion; being invested; being touched; or reason, you’ve missed the point.

And with the deepest respect, you’ve missed the point as to why people care about something. Care about Ukraine.

Like comedy - it cannot be defined. You laugh at something I find objectionable and vice versa.

How do you explain the outpouring in countries who are ‘not like us’? This is far more complex than your article suggests.

It’s easy to assume a binary opposing view … on literally anything … when it’s for the sake of pride or assumed superior intelligence. Sadly, as you point out … good people are more simple than that.

But a thought provoking piece in any event. I just believe it to be incorrect.

You cannot compare suffering or importance or vested interests any more than you can love.

Here’s a thought - perhaps Ukraine is the sum of two parts. It’s an outpouring because of the guilt of Afghanistan? And at a perceived unprovoked attack!

This has nothing to do with Ukraine’s past … and everything to do with the sum of our collective consciousness.

Thank you for your article though - it’s really good.
