It’s all in a name!
Good point re names. After all we all look for authors we enjoy – Imagine entering a library without authors … nightmare! For what it’s worth I’m not a fan of putting my name in the title unless it’s part of the storyline.
My process is somewhat simplistic… I go to my own profile and click those I’m following three times a week at least and check “latest”. And usually read that article.
I see some of my followers have thousands they follow … not sure if that’s sensible – I’ve never followed thousands of authors pre-internet / Medium, so why do it post internet / Medium? Maybe I’m missing something here. I’m opting not to consider the obvious reason to follow thousands – I’ve more faith in humanity than that … lol! Silly me perhaps.
Not much point hitting follow if I’m not going to make an effort to read the articles of those I follow. I try and at least read most articles of those I follow … it’s the least I can do.
At present I don’t have any other platform other than medium … but am looking into it. It seems the right approach.
I also try read at least one new writer daily. It’s how I discovered Michael Burg, MD … who I enjoy reading. It’s actually how I found Bebe Nicholson as well.
I still get notification pop-ups of new writing by those I follow … hopefully that will remain. And I do read someone new on the daily email, daily…
Personally I’m happy (generally), my only gripe is curation quality is slipping – probably due to work load, thankfully I don’t write so as to be curated, I do it for enjoyment and personal writing growth.
Thanks for highlighting this naming point though. Hadn’t noticed to be honest.
