I'm not sure which country you are in, but most decent supermarkets sell a decent product in rolls.
A simple yet delicious quick and easy meal is to buy a roll, buy a decent ready-meal stew or casserole, and put it in pastry, egg wash and bake for 20 minutes as a pasty.
My guilty pleasure:
I, on rare occasions, buy a chili con carne tinned meal, a fresh 250-gram bolognaise pasta sauce, add a bit f fresh chili and a tin of butter beans, and make a pie from it.
Delicious.
Obviously, you can make your own filling which I would always advocate. But many do not have the time, inclination or skills.
But it is a damn cheap but delicious meal option. Pasties were first invented to feed miners down the mines. So it is decidedly working-class prices.
