I’m not sure I agree with you on a few points. Primarily Starbucks failed because it’s not about product , as you stated, but about an experience. Aussies want a great product AND a great experience. Starbucks also offers a bucket of coffee where the modern trend is smaller more intense coffee ‘hits’. They are adapting especially in the cold brew department. I enjoyed your point about community minded as well as the alternative franchise route.

I wrote an article about coffee culture which touches on a few of your points as well. I also write on why brands struggle in new markets, (it sounds like I’m plugging my articles – which is not the intention) but we have quite a bit of overlap.
