I’m always surprised how Americans assess tax. Especially when I lived there
There is this deep aversion to paying tax, but everyone wants the benefits. America has the worst social care program in all of democracy … and some of the most appalling infrastructure I’ve ever seen …. Public transport is practically non-existent in the South … and somehow seem happy that people die every day in such a wealthy economy because they can’t afford basic humanitarian needs.
For me, that is absurd.
My absurd this week though, was hearing that a golfer earned 25 million dollars for winning a golf tournament. And his earnings this year from prize money alone is around 95 million dollars.
A golfer. Scottie Scheffler. Yes he’s amazing … and it’s over an extended period of time … but that is simply absurd.
The caddie has earned over 6 million for carrying a golf bag and offering encouragement and support.
Is it me? Am I not seeing something?
