“I need ammunition, not a ride.”
Certain words people say during times of great difficulty, are packaged into a quote. And they grow bigger than the speaker of the words or the circumstances in which the words were uttered.
These are not dark days: these are great days — the greatest days our country has ever lived.
Ukraine is living its best days now just as Britain did when Churchill uttered those words while England lay in ruin.
We must not allow our creature comforts to detract from who or what we are, or what is important to humanity. Sometimes a price must be paid for what is important, and I fear that we teach the very opposite to our youth and we forget ourselves that all we are and all we have, has come at a great price.
We stand on the shoulders of forefathers and mothers who have really struggled and who have paid that incredible price to get us to the place we enjoy now.
Let us not squander it. Let us not be afraid.
