I got my blind date so hot – her ice cream melted. Does that make me a player?

I’ve had a few ladies in my time, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing excessive, just the usual ‘varsity flings, work tête-à-tête’ and a casual hook up or three. It’s all part of the filtering process.

So as Covid winds down and Boris announced we could meet in parks again I decided to get back in the saddle and take these precious loins for a canter! Nothing too strenuous mind, just a blind date outing to stretch some of those more unexercised relational muscles.

Anyway, the potential wife to be had agreed to meet at a local park and she was bringing refreshments. My idea of refreshments would be a beverage, hopefully alcoholic, and maybe a few decent nibbles! All cozily ensconced on a tartan blanket with a waterproofed underside. Just practical – nothing fancy! It is widely agreed that a union between two consenting adults should always be synergistic! She brings practical, I bring the ‘vibe’. It’s literally the law of dating. Obviously rules and roles can be reversed. I’m no sexist.

While I’m on the subject, I think it’s time we put the term “blind date” out to pasture. It’s very old school and rotary phone’ish. With social media these days, very few “blind dates” are truly 100% “blind”. Unless of course the person is actually medically blind which would make that a 50/50 % blind date. But mostly we scrutinize their social media profile so thoroughly, that before agreeing to go on said date we know more about the date than…
