I write mostly humour but occasionally pitch a serious piece in. It is usually about politics, food or injustice. I studied law but never practiced, and I have been entrepreneurial (food industry) most of my adult life.
I have recently gone full time as a writer. So far the lights are still on.
Charles Dickens, Peter Sellers, Ricky Gervais, Stephen King, James Acaster, Gerald Durrell, Alexander Kent, Jerry Seinfeld, Micky Flanagan, and Reg Smythe (Andy Capp comic strip) are my writing inspiration. There are more - but who needs a list?
But mostly Charles, for his ability to create memorable characters.
The people I would love to have lunch with are Alan Turing, the creator of Enigma and the computer - because he was so misunderstood; HM Queen Elizabeth II - the reason, I believe is obvious; Charles Dickens; Elon Musk - a genius and fellow South African; Lando Norris - I love youth and young people who excel, fascinate me; Gordon Ramsey and Ray Kroc together; King Shaka of the Zulu nation; and my grandchildren in 50 years time.
Favourite Quotes:
"Sometimes it is the people no one imagines anything of who do the things no one can imagine" - Alan Turing
"I have to be seen to be believed" - HM Queen Elizabeth II
"There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour." - Charles Dickens.
"There are books of which the backs and covers are by far the best parts" - Charles Dickens
Greatest Critic - my son. My greatest achievement - My four incredible children, each made in but a few minutes, with the same incredible wife.
If I could ask one question - with the assurance of the correct full answer: - Exactly how will Ai operate in 100 years' time?
A dream - to have a clitoris for 48 hours. And if I had my life again I would change only this: - my diet and my impatience.
